FAQ

Who owns my website?

You own your website. You have full copyright and can move it to any hosting company at any time (subject to your payments being up to date).

How long does it take to develop a website?

The Base System is available immediately, with the initial construction usually taking between 1-2 days from receipt of the company logo or artwork. Once the website is "built" it usually takes a client 2-3 weeks to complete the words, and get photos loaded into the website, but this can be reduced to a day or so if you are committed to the job! Once a website is completed in the development location, it takes less than an hour to "go live".

Why are you only 1/10th of the price of others?

The Go Kiwi Internet Base System ($500.00 incl GST) is a starting point, but additional effort (and therefore costs) can be made with design, graphics, journalism, programming, and so on. For many customers the Base System is all that they will ever need - a tidy modern looking website with their logo on a simple clean banner. When you pay for web design you are basically buying labour, and buying labour can get expensive quite quickly! Since 1998, Go Kiwi has been a very successful volume based-business mainly because of our leading-edge systems that reduce the human component of web development to approximately 20% of a traditional website design process.

Can I have Kwik-Az Updating but have my website hosted elsewhere?

No. Kwik-Az Updating works only on websites hosted on a Go Kiwi Internet Server. You can have a website hosted anywhere you like, but the advantage of Kwik-Az Updating is that you never have to pay a web developer to update your website content again, and you can do it yourself at your own convenience!

What happens if I want more pages or more features later on?

Over time, website owners will usually find more ways to use their website and may wish to upgrade with enhanced graphics, more photos/pictures, or more advanced features like for example an Order Form, Database work or a Shopping Cart. Additional Modules and services can be added to the Base System at any time without any surcharge or penalty. Any subsequent work is charged at the hourly rate current at the time, and additional Modules are charged for at the price at the time of upgrade. There is never a disadvantage to upgrading at a later date, in fact we always encourage our clients to "start small" and develop more at a later stage. It's always better to have a smaller project looking good and completed rather than having a bigger project half finished or "Under Construction".

Can you explain your Hosting, Domain Name Fees and DNS charges please?

Hosting is holding a website "live" so that it can be seen on the Internet 24 hours, 7 days a week. Go Kiwi Internet hosting servers (computers) are connected to the Internet "serving" your web pages to the world. An analogy for hosting is renting a building for your business. Your website (staff) is located on a rented computer (building)

Domain Name Fees are the annual fees paid to Registrars to register and have use of your Domain Name. As with for example, a Telecom phone number, you can never actually "own" a Domain Name, but for the time that the Domain Name fees are paid-up, it is yours to use. An analogy for your Domain Name is securing a phone number for your business. People use your phone number (Domain Name) to identify you.

A DNS (Domain Name Server) effectively "makes the Domain Name work" by connecting your Domain Name to email and hosting. An analogy for your DNS service is that you need a phone line connected from the exchange to your PABX and phones, otherwise your phone number will not work. Likewise a Domain Name needs to be "connected" so that email and hosting will work.

NOTE: Go Kiwi Internet charges for monthly Hosting and DNS services and provides free Domain Name Fees for dot NZ and gTLD Domain Names ( such as dot COM, dot NET and dot ORG.

I've been stung by another web developer. What can you do?

If you have genuinely been burnt by another web developer through non-performance, bad advice, wild promises, or you have simply been ripped off, Go Kiwi Internet will develop your website (Base System) at no charge. This has been company policy since 1998. Go Kiwi Internet is a Corporate Foundation member of WDANZ, and is one of several member companies that actively supports WDANZ in rectifying problems with customers disgruntled with other web developers.

We are a Church, Charity, Not-for-profit. What can you do?

Churches, Para-church and Christian organisations should make an application for a Charity website to RCM (formerly Red Cross Ministries: www.rcministries.co.nz). RCM is a division of Go Kiwi Internet.

Other Not-For-Profits should contact us and indicate your NFP status at the time you request a quotation. Go Kiwi Internet actively supports many New Zealand based Not-For-Profits.
